    About Stephanie

For over 25 years, I have served children, teens and adults in my community who have experienced life-changing crisis. My specialty is trauma – and I serve FIRST RESPONDERS whose careers expose them to the emotional, physical and moral traumas that can leave an imprint on your soul.

    I also have experience with:

    • Abuse (emotional, financial, physical, sexual, or verbal)
    • Accidents
    • Divorce
    • Domestic Violence
    • And, line of duty encounters are just a few of the many traumas that can cause us to feel vulnerable and alone.

However, traumatic experiences do come with a silver lining. They highlight the depths of our grit, our resilience and our tenacity!

There are a variety of evidence based counseling practices to address our trauma. I am a  CERTIFIED EMDR therapist (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing). However, I also have experience with TF-CBT (Trauma-Focussed Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and TBRI (Trust Based Relational Intervention). Let’s figure out which approach best suits you. It would be an honor to join you along your journey.

    About Amy S. Mills, LPC

As a dedicated elementary teacher I noticed many families with unmet mental health needs. As I observed their struggles, my zeal for instruction adapted from the classroom to the therapy office.

For more than 20 years, my passion for families has continued as a Licensed Professional Counselor. Life can be overwhelming and the future uncertain. My goal is to walk alongside, advocate, and direct your path to a place of hope. I believe building a healthy connection is essential to the therapy process and understanding the dynamics of the family system is invaluable. I partner with children, teens, and adults as they navigate trauma, heartaches, diagnoses, and crises.

My specialty is trauma, especially as it effects children and teens, but I work with all ages. My therapy approach is determined by careful consideration of the client and their family system. I am trained in various types of therapy, including Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR).

When not working, my self-care includes spending time with my husband, our Beagle, and our two parakeets. You might also find me gardening, sewing, playing piano, shopping, and crafting.

“When something bad happens, you have three choices. You can either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.” — Dr. Suess
